Made at Home is the two of us: Sarah, who sees the shape a piece should take, and Josh, who spent years machining parts where a thousandth of an inch mattered and knows how to make it real.

We started because cabinet hardware kept letting us down. It looked the part in a photo, but felt cheap in the hand and wore through within a year. Once you know what to look for, you see it everywhere: plated pot metal with a brass-colored skin, hollow and light, gray showing at the edges by the second summer. We wanted knobs that felt like something. When we couldn't find them, we made them.

Every knob and pull we sell is made from solid brass and solid all the way through, no plating, no zinc core. Josh cuts them one at a time. They're machine finished and polished by hand, checked, and boxed by the two of us. Nothing leaves here that we wouldn't put on our own cabinets.

It's a slower way to make hardware, and it's the only way we're interested in. Brass has a good habit: it improves with age. It darkens, softens, and takes on the character of a kitchen that actually gets used. Ours are built to be there for all of it.
